The Opportunity
During Direct ATPI Global Travel’s (Direct ATPI’s) account review activities for a New Jersey-based client in the technology industry with $12 million in annual air spend, our DirectView consulting team identified that the client had significant spend with a particular hotel chain but had never been offered a chain-wide agreement. The lack of an agreement with this hotel chain meant the client was potentially missing out on savings opportunities.
The Solution
Direct ATPI maintains strong relationships with all hotel suppliers and to ensure we continue to deliver the best rates and amenities for our clients. We recognized the opportunity to capitalize on the loyalty travelers already had with this hotel chain. Over the course of four months, the client engaged with DirectView, and we worked with the client and hotel chain to leverage the client’s spend and set up an agreement, even amid the pandemic when the client’s travel and spend were limited.
The Results
Not only was Direct ATPI able to secure a great discount on our client’s behalf, but we were also able to establish a relationship for the client with one of the hotel’s national account managers for closer consultation and communication.
The client is now seeing impressive adoption, with 63% of their travel now being booked through this hotel chain. Year-to-date savings in September 2022 are over $83,000.
